'A Stoppage to a Stride over the Globe' - a Georgian illustrated pen and ink and watercolour cartoon, Napoleon depicted astride the globe, sword in hand, Johnny Bull (England) with sword in right hand, left hand placed on Old England, below the words 'Ah! Who is it dares interrupts me in my pacings', 'Why tis I little Johnny Bull protecting a little spot, I slap my hand on and D-n me if you come any further thats all', 14" x 10 5/8", unsigned, framed and glazed. Catalogue Note: The picture appears a print, as one of a series of anti-napoleon satirical caricatures, published in 1803 by Piercy Roberts, a caricaturist, print maker and publisher, who ran a priint shop at 28 Middle Row, Holborn, London, between 1801 and 1806. Selling out to Thomas Tegg in 1806. An example of the print by Roberts is held in the British Museum, collection number J.3.83 and one published by Thomas Toff in 1807 is held in the Brown University Library

Royal Marines Artillery Victorian Officer’s shako plate circa 1855-66. A very fine and rare gilt example. Crowned star mounted with laurel sprays and strap inscribed ‘Per Mare Per Terram’. Centrally a silver Globe with early gilt continents. Mounted on the top of the wreath a silver fouled anchor, and on lowest star point, a silvered flaming grenade. Two horizontal loops to reverse now absent otherwise VGC (KK 1088A)

Centrally, a pierced strap inscribed ‘Per Mare Per Terram’ on blue enamel ground. To the centre, a globe in relief. Three loops to reverse. VGC

Within the wreath, a strap inscribed ‘Per Mare Per Terram’. To the centre, a globe in relief. The combined silver cyphers of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip screwed on the base of the Crown and a GvR cypher wire soldered above fouled anchor. Two loops to reverse. Some service wear otherwise GC. (KK 2104) GvR Cypher authorised by GO RM 44 of 1912 following the Band’s attendance on HM King George V on his visit to India. Cyphers of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip granted for the Band’s attendance on the 1953-54 Tour of the Commonwealth

VGC (KK 1118) White Rose of York granted by General Order, R.Marines 31 of 1902 for their attendance on HRH The Duke of York (late George V) on his voyage to the Colonies in 1901.
