John Bennett, London - 18ct gold Half Hunter pocket watch, the inscribed white Roman dial with subsidiary at VI, top-wound movement No.35434, the rear cover with engraved globe, numbers, symbols and other formulae, 47mm diameter, 100g gross approx Condition: Dial in good order, bezel slightly loose. Movement appears sound but is untested and sold as seen. Minor dints to front cover. Different sponsors mark to stem of winder versus rest of case suggesting possible replacement, otherwise sound. **General condition consistent with age
American Interest - 19th Century Charles G. Bush & Co, Providence Rhode Island kaleidoscope, with black textured paper-covered barrel, and ships wheel-style adjuster, black and gold label, 28.5cm long, on an ebonised turned wooden stand, 29.5cm high Condition: Rotating end cap/adjuster has two missing 'arms', two further appear to be replacements, loss to paper banding where one arm is missing. Wear to red paper decoration and some rubbing to barrel commensurate with age and handling. Ebonised base is associated and the socket to accomadate the base of the telescope is larger than the fitting resulting in the barrel being loose. 19th century brass and glass columnular oil lamp with bi-coloured etched globe shade and clear chimney,H: 66 cm, and another example. This lot is not available for in-house P&P. Condition report: No major damage to any of the items no chips cracks, the base has been repaired on one. Has been used and would benefit from a clean also a little loss of paint due to rubbing.
Lead fire mark in the form of a crown with a pair of clasped hands, bearing no. 80585. 22cm high approx. Together with other cast metal fire marks including; a globe 20cm high approx, Phoenix, Essex Insurance Society 21cm high approx etc. Heights: 22cm, 20cm, 18cm, 21cm all approx. (6)(B.P. 21% + VAT) crown: Bent to one corner, some discolouring but no obvious losses. Others have wear and some minor losses.globe: scuffed and general wear and tear, three additional holes appearing to have been later drilled. All have wear and tear, phoenix has additional drilling holes and lacks one bracket.
A late 19th century French bronze mantel clock modelled as a globe supported by an eagle, the numerals with corresponding signs of the zodiac alongside, on oak leaf base and black slate plinth with bronze toupie feet, eight day movement stamped J.B.D, width 14in. height 13in.CONDITION: Overall in honest untouched condition, bronze is a very dark chocolate brown and of slightly matted finish to the sphere with a little more polish to the eagle and raised areas of the leaves, movement intact with pendulum, going but not tested for timekeeping, hands probably original but bent and oxidised, slate plinth with minor chipping to the extremities.
A Cary's New Terrestrial globe, made and sold by J & W Cary, January 1812, on ebonised stand, globe Diam. 11in., overall H.17in. overall Diam.15in.CONDITION: This globe looks to have been restored within the last 10 years or so, no signs of specific old damage or repairs but the overall appearance is of slight over restoration. Diameter is 12in. with the overall diameter 17in. The brass ring support does not sit properly on the stand, so the globe does lean slightly to one side, causing it to rub against the outer ring. Ebonised stand looks to be in good condition, height overall is 17in.
