Original vintage travel advertising poster for the World Fair event held in New York at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park from 30 April 1939 to 31 October 1940. Great Art Deco design by John Atherton (1900-1952) featuring people walking towards the Trylon and Perisphere at the fair on top of a base of the world globe with a classical image of Libertas the Roman goddess of liberty in the background and the title text running diagonally in stylised blue and yellow letters. Printed in U.S.A. by Grinnell Litho. Co., Inc., N.Y.C. Very good condition, folds. Country of issue: USA, designer: John Atherton, size (cm): 26x18, year of printing: 1939.

The cover features a dynamic image of a Zeppelin and a boat plane flying over the sea - both have swastikas on their tails and the plane bears the Lufthansa logo. Back cover has a Nazi eagle with a globe underneath showing the routes of the German aviation with a slogan: Luftfahr ist not - Aviation is a necessity. A message is written in ink on the inside. Charles II and Catherine silver medal British Colonisation 1670, by John Roettiers, world globe to reverse within lettering and date, 42mm, contemporary hinged case

D.S., 1p. 8vo., [n.p., n.d.], a list of men requesting a copy of a speech printed at the Globe office. The speech was given by ABRAHAM W. VENABLE (1799-1876), one of fourteen Confederate politicians who signed this document. Other notable signers include: Secretary of the Interior JACOB THOMPSON (1810-1885), Brigadier General WINFIELD S. FEATHERSTONE (1820-1891), and members of the Confederate Congress ALBERT G. BROWN (1813-1880), and JAMES L. ORR (1822-1873). The other nine signers are: WILLIAM S. ASHE, WILLIAM MCWILLIE, JOSEPH JACKSON, THOMAS H. AVERETT, JAMES L. JOHNSON, SAMPSON W. HARRIS, DAVID HUBBARD, ISAAC E. MOORE, and WILLIAM F. COLCOCK. All of these men were members of the 31st Congress from March 4, 1859 to March 3, 1851. The document was likely pulled from a notebook as it has endured significant tearing at the top, which has been repaired with archival tape. Folds, else very good.
