Max Papart (France, 1911-1994) large cubist oil on canvas 'Playing Guitar'. Signed lower right. Titled and dated 1988 verso. Sight Size: 31.5 x 38 in. Overall Size: 35.25 x 42.25 in. Purchased from Nahan Galleries (New York City). With original gallery label verso. Influenced by such rich and varied sources as Cranach, Delacroix, Matisse, and Klee and inspired by his friend Jacques Prevert, Max Papart did work intended to open a window into a world that provokes as much thought as pleasure. Since his first one-man show in 1946, he had over 300 museum and gallery exhibitions around the globe, and is the subject of dozens of books and catalogues.

A 19th century globe clock by Charles Frodsham of London. The brass globe has engraved map of the world and silvered chapter ring running the length of the 'equator' with Roman numerals. On mahogany base with name plaque reading 'Charles Frodsham, London'. The domed lid lifts to reveal the winding platform, also bearing maker's name and serial no. 0167/5000. Eight day, single train movement. 28 x 16cm. Condition reports are not availabe for our Interiors Sales.
