1973 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible by Karmann Transmission: manualMileage:99852The VW Beetle is a true icon of 20th Century motoring and occupies a significant position in the minds and hearts of drivers and enthusiasts across the globe. The Beetle is the longest-running and most-manufactured car of a single design platform anywhere in the world with over 21 million cars produced between 1938 and 2003. The VW Beetle has seduced many a first time buyer, collector and classic car enthusiast. And for obvious reasons; the parts network is comprehensive and inexpensive, the ability to convert the base model into many different variants was always available and the cost of the car itself presented a gateway into classic car ownership. This example was registered new in 1973 and was imported into the UK in December 1990. The Beetle has had two owners since being imported into the UK, the first of which treated the Volkswagen to a colour change to black, converted it to right hand drive and registered the car as a historic vehicle. The current keeper has maintained the car when necessary with notable work including extensive welding to the chassis and inner wings in 2019. Presented in black coachwork over a red leather interior and black hood. The hood is in good condition and the Fuchs style alloy wheels complement the Volkswagen very well indeed. The interior is in good order and the paintwork retains a deep shine although there are some age-related blemishes. In current ownership since 2017 the Volkswagen comes with a history file detailing previous maintenance documents, sundry bills, old MoT test records and the current V5C registration document. What better way to enjoy the summer than in a 1600cc Volkswagen Beetle convertible!

Lot 243

1950 Morgan 4/4 Drophead Coupé by Ellis Brothers Transmission: manualMileage:23692The Morgan Plus 4 was the Morgan Motor Company's first car with four wheels, introduced in 1936 following the end of production of the famed three wheeled motorcycle engine model. In 1950, the new Plus 4 appeared, with a 2,088cc Standard (later Triumph) engine producing 68bhp and delivering an 85mph top speed. The Plus 4 also featured a stiffer frame, improved front suspension, and Girling hydraulic brakes. Three bodystyles were offered: the two-seater, the four-seater, and the drophead coupé. Always a popular choice for sports car enthusiasts across the globe, the combination of the typically British 1930's styling with its flowing wings, modern performance and reliability have ensured the Morgan is as popular today as it ever has been. This is a rare example of this British classic with coachwork by Ellis Brothers in Newton Abbot and is believed to be one of only three built with drophead coupé bodywork by City Garage in Exeter. It is presented in red with a black interior and black hood. Showing lovely patina throughout, the car comes with a large history file and its original buff logbook. The first owner had the car for some 50 years and although this pretty sports car runs and drives, it will want re-commissioning as it has been stored for few years.
