A New General Atlas of Modern Geography Consisting of a Complete collection of Maps of the four quarters of the globe..., circa 1840, calligraphic title printed in black and green, contents list printed in blue, two engraved plates of celestial diagrams and comparison details and 39 (complete as list) engraved maps (including 28 double-page and folding) all with contemporary outline colouring, contents disbound and loose, a few maps with marginal fraying and chipping to the foredge, slight spotting and dust soiling throughout but largely confined to the margins, contemporary half morroco, heavily worn, stained and frayed, folio QTY: (1)NOTE:Sold as a collection of maps, not subject to return.

* Earlom (Richard). The Exhibition of the Royal Academy of painting in the Year 1771 [and] The Inside of the Pantheon in Oxford Road, Robert Sayer, 1772, a pair of mezzotints after Charles Brandoin, both with near-contemporary hand-colouring, the second described item has the title repeated in French, each approximately 470 x 565 mm, uniformly mounted, framed and glazedQTY: (2)NOTE:BM satires 5091. The Pantheon was a highly fashionable place of public entertainment on the south side of Oxford Street which was designed by James Wyatt. Charles Burney stated that "The Pantheon is regarded both by natives and foreigners as the most elegant structure in Europe, if not on the globe......No person of taste in architecture or music, who remembers the Pantheon, its exhibitions, its numerous, splendid and elegant assemblies, can hear it mentioned without a sigh." The building was all but destroyed by fire in 1792 and although rebuilt it never regained its former popularity. It was finally demolished in 1937 and a Marks and Spencer store now stands on the site.

1960s/70s Leyland Atlantean chrome and enamel VEHICLE BADGE depicting Atlas shouldering the globe. The badge measures 15" x 7.5" (38cm x 19cm), has been mounted on wood for display and is in excellent, ex-vehicle condition with nothing more than a very light tarnishing of the chrome. [1]

A fine example of the ultimate Impreza, number #100 of the 400 limited examples manufactured for the Japanese domestic market and offered from long-term private ownership.Built to celebrate both the marque's 40th anniversary and its third straight WRC manufacturers' title, the 22B STi was billed as the production version of Subaru's already-iconic two-door World Rally Car. With its beefy front and rear arches increasing width by 80mm, a high-rise rear spoiler and the unique EJ22 engine, the 22B was as close to Colin McRae's rally car as any mortal was ever going to get. It wasn't so much a homologation special but more of a road-going replica.Data suggests that a total of 426 cars were manufactured. Three cars, designated #000, were presented to Colin McRae, Nicky Grist and David Lapworth, there was no number 13, and 24 cars were manufactured for issue outside of Japan. Of these 24, 16 were delivered to the UK and the other eight went to Subaru concessions throughout the world.Each 22B was hand-built starting with a lightweight 2-door WRX bodyshell with the front and rear arches removed and replaced with wide arches to facilitate the increased track (40mm upfront and 80mm at the rear). The cubic capacity was increased to 2.2-litres from 2.0-litres and, when combined with custom fuel rails, lightweight forged pistons and a large IHI VF23 roller-bearing turbo, an additional 70bhp and huge mid-range torque at 3,000rpm resulted. The package is neatly finished off with the same adjustable rear spoiler as the WRC car enabling downforce to be varied on twisty tarmac events.Offered here at the 2023 Race Retro International Historic Motorsport Show is #100 of the 400 limited examples manufactured for the Japanese domestic market. On offer from long-term ownership, a clean HPI report shows that this example was imported in 2002 with our vendor taking ownership of the rare Subaru in 2004. It's presented in lovely overall condition with the Sonic Blue paintwork retaining a deep gloss and the interior also presents very nicely. There are a few period modifications such as the performance exhaust and uprated brakes with original items forming part of the sale (as seen in the images) along with a nice set of genuine OZ Magnesium wheels also in gold.Accompanied by a history file which includes the current V5C registration papers ready for transfer of ownership or export, invoices for parts and maintenance over the years, MOT Certificates, original parts (as seen in our professional images) and the Cherished Registration Number, R22 BDP, which will also form part of the sale.These iconic modern classics are becoming increasingly difficult to source, especially in such excellent order. One of 62 Park Ward-bodied right-hand drive Drophead Coupés from long-term ownership.Introduced in late 1959, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II and Bentley S2 appeared externally unchanged from their Silver Cloud and S-Type predecessors, although their performance was considerably enhanced by the arrival of the new 6,230cc aluminium-alloy V8 engine. There were few significant changes to the running gear, although power-assisted steering was now standard and the manual gearbox had been dropped, Rolls-Royce's own 4-speed automatic transmission being the sole offering. The Continental version of the Bentley remained, as ever, exclusively a coachbuilt car. The firms of H J Mulliner, Park Ward and James Young all offered bodies on the Continental S2 chassis, which differed from the standard version by virtue of its four-leading-shoe front brakes, shorter radiator and, in later cars, higher gearing. James Young would soon cease coachbuilding, leaving only Rolls-Royce-owned Mulliner and Park Ward to carry on a noble tradition, with Park Ward building the S2 Continental Drophead Coupés and Mulliner the saloons.The history file documents lots of lavished attention on this venerable Bentley in later years, however its very early history is, as yet, unknown. In the file, there is an early MOT Certificate from April 1978, and many invoices addressed to a Mr Warriner of Kent by James Young of Bromley in Kent. Subsequently, it would appear the car’s owner relocated, as there is an invoice for an almost entire strip down by a garage in Newtown, Powys dated 1980 but nothing more until 1984, when the photographic file shows it in a stripped condition located in Shropshire, presumably lost to the sands of time or hiding in a barn somewhere.Fortunately, it was discovered by its next owner, Stewart John, around this time. He was the Director of Engineering for the Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airlines and was on holiday in the UK with one eye open for a project and this S2 was certainly that. The Bentley was duly acquired and exported on 11th September 1984, bearing the plate 26 HYW, and there are a number of photographs in the file showing the car being loaded here and unloaded in Hong Kong. Additionally, within the file are lots of supporting invoices showing the acquisition of parts and materials, flywheels, hood parts, hooding, West German Leather etc., all sent to an address in the city district of HK. Associated Engineering Limited were tasked with carrying out a full restoration and they worked on the car over a period of 18 months during 1985 and 1986, supported by correspondence and invoices in the file. The results were pretty impressive, and there is evidence that when it was completed, it won the Concours d’Elegance at one of HK’s major classic car shows.On a separate note, there is a letter to the Department of Transport by Mr John, asking that the registration of this car and another in his ownership, have their numbers retained on the basis that he intends to return both cars to the UK at some point in the future.At this point in the story, 26 HWY was acquired by our late vendor, who lived in Hong Kong in December 1993, at a price of £36,500, with its insured value at the time being $400,000 HK. It had been seven years since the restoration so he lavished some time and money on the car during its last eighteen months in Hong Kong, before returning, via Australia, with the Bentley to the UK in October 1995. Since being back here, the car has been attended to by recognised Rolls and Bentley specialists, with many invoices showing standard MOT and service work as well as recent expenditure on minor cosmetic paintwork, re-Connollised leather and minor detailing at a cost of over £12,000 in 2017 and 2018. An early 20th century 8 inch terrestrial globe by Geographica Ltd of London on turned wooden baluster column and plinth, the paper map is scuffed & scratched, also dirty but legible, it doesn’t rotate because it sits down on the frame, if lift globe it rotates ok, needs some sort of spacer or something to lift it a few mm’s & it will spin ok.  A good looking thing.
