Admission ticket to Vauxhall pleasure gardens – an original printed admission ticket to the gardens with the permission ‘Admit Two – Globe’ with ms insertion ‘Tuesday July thirteen 1847’ and signed A Gore. Rare. Vauxhall Pleasure gardens was the most famous place of its kind in the country – particularly towards the end of the 18th c. First freely open^ charges were later made to access the many attractions^ but following the bankruptcy of the owners the gardens were sold in 1841 and closed permanently in 1859. The site can still be visited today on the banks of the Thames in London.

A late 19th Century Thomas Webb & Sons vase of globe and shaft form with shouldered ovoid base rising to a slender neck, cased in opal over ruby and polished intaglio flash cut by William Fritsche with a deep scrolling band of stylised flowers and foliage between repeat pattern borders, engraved signature to the base, height 17cm.
A small early 20th Century French cameo glass vase in the manner of Daum of compressed globe and shaft form acid cut and enamel decorated with a stylised flower and foliage over textured ground, together with a similar example in tonal green cut with wild pansies, both unmarked, tallest 10cm. (2)

Jay McCormick`, with a cast brass guard incorporating reversed quillons, a leather-covered and wire-bound metal grip, and a globe-shaped pommel with a cap set in a crown, in its metal scabbard with brass mounts, the second hanger band with a `PM` monogram, overall 89cm long.

An impressive brass lectern, attributed to AWN Pugin (1812-1852) for John Hardman & Co. (1838-1900), mid 19th century, the spread eagle clutching a globe in its talons, on cast column and a stepped and shaped hexagonal base supported on six crouching lions, impressed 'J Hardman & Co., Birmingham', 188cm high Literature: for a pair of floor-standing candlesticks similarly attributed, see Christie's sale no. 4212, lot 59. Provenance: St. Curig's Church, Llangurig, which was refurbished in the 1870s by Sir George Gilbert Scott and Arthur Baker. CONDITION REPORT: Some finials missing to 'crown' on column. Finish very worn and pitted in places.
