A Cleveland Premium opaque glass petrol pump globe, having opposing transfer applied lettering and stamped Haleware British Made towards base, 42 x 64cm Condition Report / Extra Information Surface grubbiness throughout, requires cleaning. Evidence of two long horizontal masking tape lines through one side of Cleveland title. Applied transfer otherwise without losses. Flaked losses towards base. Fingernail chip to edge of base at right of Haleware stamp. Smaller chips and nibbles around base. Generally well used condition.

Attributed to Carlo Innocenzo Carlone (Italian, 1686-1775) Design for a wall or ceiling painting depicting the muses Thalia and Uranis - Thalia representing Comedy and taking off her mask and Urania representing Astrology wearing a crown of stars with descriptive inscription in Italian to the right-hand side pen and ink 20 x 32cm (8 x 12in) The inscription in Italian reads "Talia segna la comedia e si leva una maschura / Urania segna lostrologia coronata di stelle con un globo" Thalia was the eighth born of the nine muses and the daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne. She was the Muse who presided over comedy and idyllic poetry, usually depicted as a joyful woman holding a mask. Urania was also the daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne and was the muse of astronomy and astrology, usually depicted with a crown of stars and holding a globe. The eldest of the divine sisters, she was often associated with Universal Love and the Holy Spirit. Two water spots to theupper right-hand corner. Paper is crinkled quite considerably. Fold down the centre of the paper running vertically.

Other Notes: Hermann Richter was born in Hamburg, Germany, on July 29, 1875 and went to the USA in 1927, where he lived in California for 14 years. He died in San Diego, California on May 3, 1941. In 1939, Hermann Richter painted murals depicting restaurant scenes for San Francisco's oldest, largest German restaurant - Schroeder's - during the Golden Globe International Exposition on Treasure Island. Unclear whether canvas is lined or not - most likely not. Paint layer has localised areas of cracking but stable and secure.

A 19th century French gilt brass mantel clock. Surmounted by a Classical maiden charting a globe with a compass and with a relief figure of Cupid gazing through a telescope. With enamel dial having Roman numeral markers and housing an eight day movement with silk suspension and striking half hourly on a bell. Raised on a marble plinth over toupie feet, 37cm high. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Sold with key and pendulum. Running. Females upper torso and globe pedestal loose, need tightening from underneath. One foot loose. Hair cracking to 12 o clock on the enamel dial and slight chips around the winding holes.
A bronzed figural Classical style pedestal globe. Formed as a Grecian maiden with her arms raised supporting the illuminating glass globe, 150cm high. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Very good condition. Working but with a Continental plug. The statue is Victorian but the finish and globe are later additions.
