Original vintage music advertising poster for a concert by Quicksilver Messenger Service at the Avalon Ballroom in 1967. Supporting acts featured The Other Half and Melvin Q. The event was organised by Family Dog Productions. The Avalon Ballroom was a music venue in the Polk Gulch neighborhood of San Francisco, California. The space operated from 1966 to 1969, at the height of the counterculture movement. Quicksilver Messenger Service (sometimes credited as simply Quicksilver) is an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1965 in San Francisco. The band achieved wide popularity in the San Francisco Bay Area and through their recordings, with psychedelic rock enthusiasts around the globe, and several of their albums ranked in the Top 30 of the Billboard Pop charts. They were part of the new wave of album-oriented bands, achieving renown and popularity despite an almost complete lack of success with their singles (apart from "Fresh Air", which reached number 49 in 1970). Though not as commercially successful as contemporaries Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver was integral to the beginnings of their genre. With their jazz and classical influences and a strong folk background, the band attempted to create an individual, innovative sound. Music historian Colin Larkin wrote: "Of all the bands that came out of the San Francisco area during the late '60s, Quicksilver typified most the style, attitude and sound of that era." Member Dino Valenti drew heavily on musical influences he picked up during the folk revival of his formative musical years. The style he developed from these sources is evident in Quicksilver Messenger Service's swing rhythms and twanging guitar sounds. After many years, the band has attempted to reform despite the deaths of several members. In 2009, original members Gary Duncan and David Freiberg toured as the Quicksilver Messenger Service, using various backing musicians. Condition: Excellent condition. Year of printing: 1967, country of printing: USA, designer: Jack Hatfield, dimensions (cm): 50.5x35.5.

Original vintage sport poster published by Levi Strauss for the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympic Games featuring a dynamic artwork depicting a football player volleying the ball into orbit with the globe behind highlighting the South American continent. This poster is part of a series of six posters commissioned by Levi's, the San Francisco blue-jeans manufacturer, to promote their official sponsor status of the US team for the 1980 Olympic Games. However, when the USSR invaded Afghanistan in the 1979, President Carter cancelled the US participation in the Moscow Olympics as a protest and Levi Strauss, hence unable to provide apparel to the members of the US team, decided to abandon the campaign and withdrawn the posters because of the US boycott of the games. Original vintage sport poster at the 1952 Tour De France, with advertising logos from Le Parisien and L'Equipe. The 1952 Tour De France was the 39th edition of the event, and was won by Italian cyclist Fausto Coppi. He won the Tour De France twice and was the dominant international cyclist of years each side of the Second World War. The Tour de France is an annual men's multiple stage bicycle race primarily held in France, while also occasionally passing through nearby countries. Like the other Grand Tours (the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España), it consists of 21 day-long stages over the course of 23 days. It has been described as "the world’s most prestigious and most difficult bicycle race". The race was first organized in 1903 to increase sales for the newspaper L'Auto and is currently run by the Amaury Sport Organisation. The race has been held annually since its first edition in 1903 except when it was stopped for the two World Wars. As the Tour gained prominence and popularity, the race was lengthened and its reach began to extend around the globe. Participation expanded from a primarily French field, as riders from all over the world began to participate in the race each year. The Tour is a UCI World Tour event, which means that the teams that compete in the race are mostly UCI WorldTeams, with the exception of the teams that the organizers invite. It has become "the world's biggest annual sporting event." A women's Tour de France was held under different names between 1984 and 2009. Since 2014, the La Course by Le Tour de France is held for women in a one- or two-day format during the men's race. Condition: Good condition, small tear at the top. Country of printing: France, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 45x56, year of printing: 1952.
