A German terrestrial globe "Raths Politisher Erdglobus", Prof. Doctor A. Krause, circa 1900, raised in a mahogany cradle with turned column and three downswept legs. Globe diameter 12 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The overall height of the piece is approximately 28.5 ins. The cradle stand and brasswork are all in very good condition and operate as they should. The brass circumference is also in good order, the globe itself is in generally good condition. There are some minor scuffs around the south pole region. There is a mahogany washer at the south pole which is probably none original and approximately 1 inch in diameter. This acts as a spacer between the brass stud at the bottom of the circumference. There are minor scuffs and scratches to the globe itself around the Equator line and some evidence of old overpainting along the seam. Overall it is however in generally good order with no significant problems.
