A pair of brass campaign style travelling candle lamps by Sherwood Ltd. of Birmingham, first quarter 20th century, the candlestick style lamps with sprung mechanism inside the stem to ensure the candles remain lit, with glass globe shades and 'punkah' style crowned tops, impressed maker's marks to bases and etched marks to shades, 16in. (40.7cm.) high. (2) * Condition: One shade is cracked, with several small chips from the lower edge. Small, very shallow flake from top edge of the other shade. 1in. split to one base. Some polish residue to both. No other faults.

An oval bronze medal with an armoured frigate crossing the Pacific Ocean, the reverse 'Spanish Frigate Numancia'.35 x 30mm, on a light blue ribbon. This medal was awarded to the crew of the Numancia for her circumnavigation of the globe. Purchased from France, Numancia was the first ironclad warship to circumnavigate the globe between 4th February 1865 and the 20th September 1867 *Condition: Good condition.

§ Herbert Gurschner (1901-1975) Tyrolsigned and titled 'H.Gurschner / Tyrol' (lower right); numbered 26/60woodcut11.5 x 11cmThrough his paintings and prints of his native Tyrol, a historical region in the Alps of Northern Italy and western Austria, Herbert Gurschner not only depicted his homeland, but helped to define it. However, in spite of his inextricable association with the Tyrolean landscape, Gurschner spent most of his adult life living in London with his wife, Ella Dolores Erskine, a wealthy British society woman. The union proved to be commercially fertile for Gurschner who gained access to aristocratic circles and rapidly became one of the most sought-after portraitists working in London at the time.In 1939, Gurschner obtained British citizenship and, following World War II, entered into his second marriage. Effectively exiled from the patrician circles he had previously been moving within, Gurschner turned his attention away from portraiture and, instead, reinvented himself as a stage designer for prestigious institutions, including the Globe Theatre and the Royal Opera House.

Cooper, at the globe in Paternoster Row, London, with the bookplate of Charles Thomas, slipcase, published by Andrew Brice of Exeter, 1750.An important copy of a very rare work. William Hals was the perfect master of the Cornish language and was versed in British and Saxon. Part ii (all published) pages 5 to 158 present with pages 1-4 in typescript, 1 leaf page 55/6) torn at bottom outer corner with small loss of text, the body of work with a spike hole mostly throughout, the publishers began with the second part of this work, parochial history taken directly from the manuscript, it is believed that there were only ‘’about 21 (mostly deficient) copies altogether are known to exist’’.

The top also has patches of fading on the left and right hand sides. One of the metal brackets on the right hand side is coming away from the body. The door mechanisms all work ok, Some dark staining to some of the sides. Generally good, functional, and tidy.
