EDWARD JULIUS DETMOLD (1883-1857): "DARWIN'S DREAM" 48cm x 33cm A pencil and pastel sketch depicting naturalist Charles Darwin sitting in a cane chair, surrounded by various skulls of beasts and a large globe and telescope. Darwin also appears to have a living child sitting on his knee. Drawn by Detmold circa 1920's, after Darwin's death, it was perhaps a working sketch for a painting that appears to have never been completed. Label to verso for Detmold's agent Oliver O'Donnell Frick, for 6 Margaretta Terrace in Chelsea. This drawing is previously unknown and unrecorded.

Bernard Moore – Flambé vase of footed globe and shaft form with lustre glaze in shades of red, blue and yellow ochre; together with another of onion form with lustre glaze in shades of blue and grey on deep red, printed marks, 15cm high and smallerOn the blue piece, the darker glaze hasn’t taken in all places. The red piece has a small glazing chip on the rim of the base, pockmarks, and glazing imperfections.
Bernard Moore – Vase of footed globe and shaft form with high-fired copper glaze in shades of ox-blood and purple on a pale body; together with another of onion form with flambé glaze in shades of mottled ox-blood, grey and mauve, both painted ‘Bernard Moore’ to the base, 15cm high– The red and white piece has crazing and pockmarks all over. The red piece has light scratches in multiple places and a heavy series of scratches in a concentrated area of ½ cm x ½ cm. There are also pockmarks present.

There is a large production flaw on the underside of the bulb close to the base and a few other minor production flaws all over.The Red piece has two large chips on the rim of the base. There is a hairline crack that has ringed around the piece and there is crazing all over. There is a small repaired chip on the rim.

Map of the Russian Empire; Publisher DANIEL LIZARS (Edinburgh, 1754-1812), late 19th century.It has damp stains, soiling, cracks and tears on the sides.Measurements: 59 x 90 cm.Map in which the Russian Empire is represented, following the round typology of the terrestrial globe in spite of being a map, characteristic for its two-dimensional idiosyncrasy. This map was edited by Daniel Lizars (1754-1812) who was the son of a shoemaker, but was apprenticed to Andrew Bell, a printer and engraver. Lizars set up his own printing press near St Giles' Cathedral and employed his own apprentices, including George Bartholomew, whose son John would go on to found the important map-making firm later known as John Bartholomew & Son Ltd.
