He subsequently moved to the workshop of R E Stone where he won the first of multiple Jacques Cartier Awards. His career then continued with Gerald Benny. In 1968 he won the commission for Southend Civic Plate and this signalled the start of his own business. He undertook numerous commissions and, in 1973, The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths provided him with a one-man show. He continued working until 2011.
