A 1930s Shelley Regent shaped bone china six place teaset, decorated with orange and yellow flower heads, comprising pair of serving plates, twelve dessert dishes, six teacups and saucers, pair of cream jugs and a sugar bowl (lacking teapot), each with printed backstamps, registration number 781613 verso (23) Condition Report / Extra Information Serving plates - one with two small ground chips to one side of outside lower edge, all with some cutlery scratch marks, otherwise good.Dessert dishes - all with cutlery scratch marks, otherwise good.Teacups - one with 15mm hairline running from top rim down, another with small paint blemish to body.Saucers - light surface scratches only.Cream jugs - one with 12mm scuffed surface scratch to one side of spout, otherwise good.Sugar bowl - no apparent faults.
A George III painted satinwood travelling case, the banded top with two oval panels painted with classical female figures, the front painted with floral swags and with pierced white metal escutcheons, the sides with whitemetal carrying handles, the two-piece hinged top opening to reveal a fitted interior lined in red velvet, with Wedgwood & Bentley black basalt part tea service, painted in iron red and white with anthemion, beaded borders and classical instruments, comprising a teapot, cover and stand, sugar bowl and cover, a tapering cylindrical hot water jug and cover with silver spout, helmet shaped cream jug, a cup and saucer, plus six cut glass condiment bottles and jugs and a silver mounted cut glass vase shaped sugar bowl, with two short drawers beneath, on a later satinwood stand painted with swags of flowers, on square tapered legs, 18 x 13 1/8in. (45.75 x 33.3cm.), 22in. (56cm.) high. * Provenance: Christie's London, unknown sale date, Lot 470. ** Condition: The two lifting sections of top with oval paintings show some signs of damage. The right hand section has a 3/4in. section of the diagonal Edge banding missing at the back right. The painted figure holding aloft a cross has two splits across the centre of the oval one of approx. 4in. and the other approx. 2in. The left-hand section has a slight bow to the top which has caused a split at the front approx. 3in. from the left side in a wave shape across to the right side. A small section of the diagonal edge stringing is missing from the front left corner approx. 1/4in. long.A piece of the cross banding is missing from the front right corner of this lid. The lidded jug of the Tea Set is impressed Wedgwood & Bentley and a hand painted red 'O'. The teapot lidded Sucrier and milk jug also have the red 'O'. The other three pieces are unmarked. In the fitted right hand side there are four silver mounted small cut and faceted bottles, 2 silver mounted jugs and a bowl plus 2 spare bottles and stoppers. The silver mounts differ in design between the bottles and jugs thus the glassware has been matched to fit the piece. The two drawers and the stand appear undamaged.
