A Meissen porcelain yellow-ground part tea-service, c.1740-50, blue crossed swords marks, Pressnummern, the ground reserved with quatrefoil panels painted with scattered sprays and bouquets of deutsche Blumen within ombrierte gilt band cartouches, comprising: a sugar-bowl and domed cover, the cover with a seed-pod finial, two teacups, the interiors with flower-sprays, and two saucers, the undersides yellow-ground, the upper sides painted with flowers, the sugar-bowl 12cm high, 12.5cm diameter (6)Provenance: Adolphe Gautier, according to the paper collection label attached to the underside of the sugar-bowl.The Property of John Kenworthy-Browne FSA.Condition Report: Apart from the condition faults (listed in more detail below) overall the condition is good and the pieces are bright and fresh in appearance. In more detail: Sugar-bowl: There is a very small and minor restored chip to the tip of the pod finial. There is a minute flake to the yellow ground which is also very minor. Cups: The handle of one cup has two hairline cracks which may indicate that a section of it has been restuck (it is difficult to see if this is definitely the case). The other cup has a hairline crack from the rim adjacent to the handle (with an associated minute flake to the yellow ground), and a further short hairline crack from the rim near one of the cartouches both of these are very fine and very difficult to see. There are some very slight areas of wear to the gilt rims. Saucers: There are some minute areas of wear to the enamels of the flowers. There are some very slight areas of wear to the gilt rims.

The coffee-pot with a few very small flat chips to branch feet, some retouched in purple enamel and the cover with restored breaks to branch handle near terminals. The waste-bowl in good order. The circular dish with a narrow flat chip to the underside on the footrim and a few scattered small flakes to the enamels of the figural scene. The sugar -bowl and cover in good order. The spoon-tray in good order. The teacups: in good order. The saucers: one with small flat chip to underside of footrim; one with two small flat chips to inside edge of footrim; one with very minor tiny chips to footrim. Overall some very minor typical wear to gilding and enamels.
