˜A PARCEL-GILT-SILVER TEA SET, ATTRIBUTED TO P. ORR AND SONS, MADRAS (CHENNAI), INDIA, CIRCA 1905-10 comprising teapot, milk jug, sugar bowl and sugar tongs, each with chased and repousse decoration, the sides with temple and procession scenes in relief, with acanthus and beadwork borders above and below, the handles in the form of scrolling multi-headed snakes, each with a figure of the infant Krishna perched on its body, the teapot handle with ivory insulators, teapot: 17cm high, 28cm long; sugar-bowl: 9.5cm high, 23.5cm long; milk jug: 14.3cm high, 14.3cm long; tongs: 13.5cm long, weight: 2376g all inP. Orr and Sons was founded in 1846 in Madras, at first primarily as a clockmaker, but following the visit of the Prince of Wales to India in 1875-6, the company received a royal warrant for silver and jewellery produced in the 'Swami' style, decorated with Hindu deities and mythical animals, as well as musicians and religious processions. Orr's sales catalogue of circa 1880 illustrates examples from this pattern, which continued to be produced well into the 20th century, often with minor variations of decorative detail. The firm exists to this day as a retailer of clocks and watches. See Wynyard Wilkinson, 'Indian Silver, 1858-1947', London 1999, pp.145-157. A George III silver caddy spoon, with scalloped bowl by John Thropp, Birmingham 1816, 7cm long, a pair of 18th century Irish silver bright-cut sugar tongs by Carden Terry, Cork, maker's mark and stamped sterling, an early 18th century Irish brandy warming pan, maker's mark only for William Clarke of Cork (repairs, AF), four various 19th century condiment spoons and a teaspoon (8)Caddy spoon is in good condition. Tongs have a repair and are dented and buckled. Three of the mustard spoons are a bit bent/misshapen. The small brandy pan has a strip of repair to the body, approx 4" long, and several dents and knocks to the lower area and base. The wooden handle has a chip. There are engraved initials R.B.W 1760 to the side.

Shelley 'Forget-me-not' tea set to include: twelve cups and saucers, milk jug & sugar bowl, twelve side plates and two shallow bowls.Some minor surface scratches to some saucers and side plates and more noticeable scratches to one of the larger plates. Chips to base of one side plate and possible restoration to rim of one other. Hair crack to rim of one cup. Some cups have a small area of crazing to the base and some have minor chips and frits to bases.

A George V silver tea service, Walker and Hall, Sheffield 1924-1927, comprising teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl, the gadroon rim above plain polished lobed body, upon four compressed ball feet, teapot with composite handle and finial, teapot 16.5cm high, gross weight 31ozt (3) Condition report: Teapot cover doesn't sit flush against body. Dents and scuffling seen to ball feet commensurate with use. Body with minor scratches and dent commensurate with use and age. Sugar bowl has discolouration throughout.Possible visible seam underneath handle. Milk jug in similar condition. Slightly discoloured and with visible seam under handle.
