A fine early Victorian Scottish four piece silver coffee service, by A G Whighton, the teapot assayed Edinburgh 1845, the coffee pot, milk/cream jug and sugar bowl assayed Edinburgh 1849, of substantial size, the coffee pot and milk/cream jug of circular baluster form, the teapot and twin handled sugar bowl of bulbous circular form, all engraved with scrolling leaves and flowers and raised upon circular pedestal foot, the coffee pot having ribbed ogee rim, octagonal swan neck spout, double scroll handle and hinged cover with fruit and leaf finial, the jug with double scroll handle and gilt washed interior, the teapot with octagonal swan neck spout, hinged cover with fruit and leaf finial and loop handle, the sugar bowl with twin loop handles and gilt washed interior, in good all over condition.
