AN UNUSUAL FIRST PERIOD WORCESTER POLYCHROME TEACUP AND A MATCHING CHINESE SAUCER, finely enamelled and gilt with a Chinese figure on gilt buffalo in a landscape with flowers and a willow tree growing from a hollow rock, gilt geese on the opposite side of the river, in gilt and red line undulating ribbon border, the handle also gilt, saucer 12cm diam, c1770 The Worcester cup is likely to have been made as a replacement for a slightly earlier Chinese Export tea service. A 19th century pearlware pedestal sugar bowl, monochrome printed with scenes of children playing, height 9cm, diameter 10cm, also a 19th century "Band of Hope" children's plate with moulded rim, the centre with blue and white print entitled "Never No Never", diameter 15cm. The "Band of Hope" was a temperance organisation for children founded in Leeds in 1847. The members had to promise to abstain from all alcoholic drinks. (Illustrated).
