Royal Doulton Art Deco part tea service, with silver bands on a white ground, angular handles, pattern H4244, Rd. No 776716, to include teapot, h17cm, teapot stand, 9 cups, 10 saucers, 10 cake plates, cream jug, and sugar bowl. Also Grindley six square cake plates and a serving plate, decorated with red flowers and black transfer print. Condition on Royal Doulton:Overall condition good with little wear to silver rim or bands, no chips found. 1 cup has hairline crack to underside foot and resulting crazing. 1 cup has minor crazing to underside foot. 2 saucers have crazing to the well of the saucer. Cake serving platter has light surface scratches evident to the silver. Cake plates: 1 with very light surface scratches, 1 worn patch to the silver, 2 with crazing to base, 1 with hairline crack, 1 cracked right through (close to breaking off). Sugar bowl has minor thumb sized crazing to under side. Cream jug has very minor rubbing to silver on the spout. Teapot: lid is crazed. Mild wear to silver on uppermost handle. 1.5cm hairline crack to rim. Feint hairline crack curving from base upwards approx 7cm.See additional images.

Surface scratches to saucers. A late Victorian silver teapot of half reeded decoration (by Harrison Brothers and Howson, Sheffield 1891), together with an associated twin-handled sugar bowl (by Selfridges & Co., Sheffield 1908), total weight 24.7 oz CONDITION REPORTS Whilst basically sound, there is an additional cork spacer placed on the lid between the wooden finial and the surface of the lid. There is a slight "smile" to the lid indicating that it has at some point been slightly bent. There are surface scratches conducive with age and use throughout. The sugar is in the same condition on the surface - otherwise sound

Lady Enid was granddaughter of Henry Edwyn Chandos Scudamore-Stanhope, 9th Earl of Chesterfield and sister to Edward Henry Scudamore-Stanhope, the 12th and last Earl of Chesterfield, born on 9 February 1889. In December 1926 she married, Major Alexander Browne of Callaly Castle, Northumberland.
