Der Fuß setzt am Sockel mit umziehendem Fruchtkranz breit an. An der sich verjüngenden Wandung Trauben und Weinblätter im kräftigen Relief, darüber wiederum ein die untere Schale tragender Ring mit Traubenmotiv. Der gerillte Mittelstab trägt die obere, kleinere Schale, darüber großer Tragering über Blattwerk. Die Bronzeteile feuervergoldet. Die Kristallschalen mit radialem Facettenschliff und Zackenrandschliff. Kleiner Riss in einer der Glasscheiben.Der Begründer der Bronze-Manufaktur, Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843) war Schüler von Pierre Gouthiére in dessen Atelier, das bereits für Louis XVI arbeitete. 1772 wurde er bereits als Bronzier genannt. 1776 gründete er seine eigene Werkstatt, in der er im Laufe der Zeit sechs- bis siebenhundert Mitarbeiter beschäftigt waren. Sein Ruhm verbreitete sich in ganz Europa. Er arbeitete mit Künstlern wie Odiot, Louis-Simon Boizot oder Pierre Paul Prud’hom zusammen. Zu seinen Kunden zählten die Familie Napoleon, der Duc de Berry oder Herzog Nicolai Demidoff. Werke seiner Herstellung finden sich in den bedeutendsten Sammlungen und Museen, vom Louvre bis zum Palazzo Pitti. A.R.
