A George III Silver Sugar-Bowl, by Richard Morton and Co., Sheffield, 1789 tapering oval and with wirework sides, on conforming oval foot, with overhead swing handle and blue glass liner13cm wide, 4oz, 125grFully marked on foot. The handle apparently unmarked. The marks are generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some solder marks where the wires meet the rim. These may be constructional or may indicate repairs. The blue glass liner may be later and with some chips and polished areas.
A George III Silver Sugar-Bowl, Maker's Mark Lacking, London, 1802 the bowl tapering and pierced with slats and bands of foliage, each side with a cartouche, three pierced with a vase and one engraved with a crest, on square base with pierced foliage band, with conforming blue glass liner15.5cm high, weight of silver 5oz 16dwt, 181grMarked on base. The maker's mark is lacking. There is possibly the remains of the maker's mark above the date letter. Otherwise, the marks are generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The blue glass liner is perhaps later.
