A rare Bohemian wheel-cut glass tea bowl, last quarter 17th century, the clear, heavy, hemispherical body well-cut with a diminishing honeycomb pattern, 7.6cm Small bowls of this type are uncommon and when they exist, are usually in ruby, such as that in pl.103 of 'European Glass' by Olga Drahotová, 1983, which is similarly cut. The Bohemian glass cutters were amongst the most skilled of the period and many migrated to Dresden where they worked on Böttger red stoneware from 1710. The pattern on this bowl was known as 'eckigt und facet geschfliffen' (decorated with angular facets) and a redware tankard similarly cut is illustrated in the 'Porcelain Collection in Dresden Zwinger', 2002, p119.
