A 'Prince Leopold won the Darbey' engraved rummer 1816, the bucket bowl further inscribed for William Cooper above a facetted band, bun knopped stem and circular foot, 13.5cm (5.25 in) high Prince Leopold (1813-17) was a horse owned by the 'Grand Old' Duke of York. William Cooper may have caused this glass to be engraved having won bets on him in 1816. It was in this year that the Duke's niece, Princess Charlotte, married Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfield.
