A George III mahogany gentleman's campaign dressing chest, the twin hinged top opening to an arrangement of jug and bowl recesses and lidded compartments, above a single faux drawer and a drawer opening to a hinged ratchet mirror, lidded compartments and four glass inkwells, over a second vacant drawer, the chest with inset brass swing handles to the sides, raised upon ring turned tapering legs on brass caps and castors, united by an 'X' cross stretcher, 95cm H x 63cm W x 51cm D CONDITION REPORT: X-cross stretchers believed to be a later addition. Legs sit into brass fittings underneath the carcass which would indicate that they are removable however we have not been able to remove the stretcher in order to confirm this. The envelope top opens to create a flat surface when released from the later addition of gallery chains to the rear of the cabinet. The left leaf has a replaced strip of mahogany to the lip which is particularly noticeable. The left nob of the bottom draw suffers a loss. The top drawer falls forward. The interior is vacant, as per photographs, but is compartmentalised for a wash set. The middle drawer with original glass bottles (x4), velvet lined trays and mirror plate. The covers of the two internal containers have perished (were once Moroccan leather). Overall there is signs of wear, cosmetic scratches, denting, minor splitting and general surface staining throughout.
A pair of silver plated table centrepieces, modelled after Pierre Jules Mene's 'Two Whippets at Play', the palm tree above supporting a cut glass bowl and with three glass lined hanging baskets, 55cm high/Provenance: The Rookery, Middlesex/see illustration CONDITION REPORT: Some minor chips to points of glass rims (mostly to smaller bowls). They could benefit from a careful clean but overall look in good condition.
A George III silver sugar basket, J?, London 1777, the beaded rim and handle above a pierced Greek key design, swags and eight petal flowers with blue glass liner, together with later sugar nips, approximately 190g CONDITION REPORT: Tiny chip to outer edge of glass bowl. Damage to Greek key border, this will require restoration.
An Art Deco three-piece silver cruet set, Mappin & Webb, Sheffield 1933, comprising mustard pot, pepper shaker and small bowl, of stepped design with reeded detail, approximately 235g weighable CONDITION REPORT: Overall appearance good. The mustard and sale have glass liners, one has a tiny chip to outer edge of rim. There is one associated spoon.
A pair of 1930s gilt metal mounted two-handled vases, 22.5cm high, a pair of glass salts with beaded borders and a gilt metal mounted glass bowl CONDITION REPORT: Both vases have a small chip to top rim, with one having been polished to remove previous chips. Mount to one vase pulled/bent away from the glass. Other vase has a patch of gilt loss to top of mount. The salts are overall good. Slight rubbing to gilt rim. One has small chips under gilding, contemporary with production. Makers as monograms
