A GEORGE III SILVER SUGAR BASKET by William Plummer, London 1771, circular with ogee bowl, with egg and tongue moulded rim above pierced sides with flowerheads, raised on a conforming foot, engraved WAMO to CCO. 10.5cm high, 7.9 troy ounces of silverThe marks on the underside of the foot are clear. The blue glass liner cracked. In otherwise good condition. Perhaps ever so slightly compressed. No evidence of there having been a swing handle. See image of the engraving.
A GEORGE III SILVER SWING-HANDLE SUGAR BASKET by Hester Bateman, London 1790, pointed oval form with pedestal foot, the ogee bowl decorated with a pierced band between bright-cut engraving. 18cm wide, 6.4 troy ounces exc. glassA lovely set of crisp and clear marks struck to the underside of the foot. Stands upright and does not rock. The swing handle is ever so slightly misshapen but hinging well. The blue glass liner is in good condition. Engraved with initials on the underside of the foot. In generally very good condition.
