John Solly (1928-2004) An Earthenware Bowl, with green and blue banded decoration covered in a brown slip-trailed pattern, impressed PEASMARSH JOHN SOLLY E.SK, and signed John Solly 1997, 31cm diameter; and An Orrefors Frosted Glass Brick Dish, with cut exterior and clear smooth interior, signed Orrefors L 2253-421, 25cm by 14.5cm, 9cm high (2) John Solly was born in 1928 in Maidstone, Kent. At the age of twenty-five he set up his own pottery at London Road. He studied at Maidstone School of Art and the Central School of Art in London, he worked at Rye pottery with Jack and Wally Cole and also at Winchcombe with Ray Finch. He made domestic wares in earthenware for thirty-three years, and then moved to Peasmarsh in Sussex.
