A George III mahogany tea caddy, with metal handle to lid, bowl and single interior caddy, boxwood strung. Width 20 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This caddy is in generally good, untouched, original condition. The handle is original. There is a 1 inch section of boxwood stringing missing to the top right hand corner of the lid. The hinges are in good order. The interior is in good condition generally. There are minor nibbles to the corner of the lid and the interior lid and the lead lining is perished. The glass bowl may well be original and is certainly Georgian. The lock escutcheon seems to be a later replacement which does not quite fit as it should. The remainder of the case is in generally good order.
