δ Grant (Duncan) Martini and Oranges, inks, pastel and chalks, touches of white heightening, on thin wove paper without watermark, signed with initials and inscribed 'Tangiers' lower right, 280 x 200 mm (11 x 7 7/8 in), under glass, toning and discolouration to pigments, minor surface dirt, framed, [circa 1936]Provenance:From the collection of the late Mr. Laurence Lee ⁂ Duncan Grant travelled to Tangier several times throughout his life, and the present undated sheet would appear to be part of a group of studies executed in the 1930s. Another drawing from this stay in Tangier, Bowl of Vegetables and Fruits, is executed in the same style and bears the date 1936 (see Toovey's, Fine Art, 5th September 2018, lot 75). Several other studies by Grant from Tangier can be found in the collection held in Charleston Farmhouse, the home and studio of Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell.δ This lot is sold subject to Artists Resale Rights, details of which can be found in our Terms and Conditions.

A PAIR OF ENGLISH SIX-LIGHT CUT GLASS CHANDELIERSIN GEORGE III STYLE, 20TH CENTURY each 100cm high, 63cm diameterCondition Report: Surface is dirty from atmosphere and handling, wiring and frame elements are held on with thin wire- some of this has slackened resulting in one upper scroll element now off centre- and one chandelier with loose chains/swags that will require rehanging. Typical wear throughout with minor losses and some edge wear and frittingOne chandelier basically in good condition with some minor losses and edge nibbles. There has been pressure from long threaded screw and base bolt where it meets glass- resulting in some minor wearSecond chandelier also has the same problem- but with more pronounced wear. Additionally it shows greater signs of use and wear with one sconce cracked/broken and at least 4 other sconces with edge chip. The central gilded bowl at heart of the piece is slightly duller than the other lightELECTRICAL GOODS. A Victorian silver plated and cranberry glass 6 piece Epergne or Table Centre, 17" (43cms); together with a very ornate Austrian rococo style porcelain Bowl, decorated with battle scenes on dark blue and gilt ground with two rustic handles, 12" (30cms), and a Japanese Satsuma Bowl with bamboo handle. A group of art glass, to include an Orrefors of Sweden decorative glass bowl and matching bell, a Rorstrand blue fire dish, 25cm wide, a Kosta Boda paperweight, a Bengt Orup for Johanas Jors of Sweden decorative blue glass bowl, 9cm high, and a Flygs Jors of Sweden 1930's green glass bowl, 7cm high. A Regency/William IV rosewood tea caddy, with interior compartments and glass bowl and raised on bun feet. Width 32 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The caddy is in generally good condition with no significant issues. The main body of the piece is in good order with only minor surface blemishes and no losses of any note. There is a timber stress fracture to the rear panel. This is not unsightly and there is no movement. The top is not warped. The hinges are secure and original. The lock is all present and complete and we have the key. Both interior caskets are in generally good order although the lead lining has perished. The glass bowl fits the aperture but may well not be original.
A Victorian opaque glass bowl on stand, jewelled and gilded. Height 38 cm, diameter 25 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are ten missing jewels from around the top rim. Many others have chips and losses. The very top lip of the bowl has a thumbnail size chip and the gilding is rubbed. The gilding around the centre knop is rubbed. All jewels around the base section are intact. The vase stand is in generally better condition. There is some rubbing to the gilding on the foot rim. All of the jewels to the decoration on the side of the vase are all present and in good order and the gilding is good. The base jewels are all present although several do have chips and partial losses.

A FRENCH ORMOLU CENTRE-PIECE MODELLED AS THE THREE GRACESEarly 20th centuryWith associated cut glass bowl decorated with swags and medallions, mounted on a Siena marble base, 37cm highCondition report: The collar and foliate leaves appear to be later; slightly different in colour and quality of finish. Two of the leaves with solder visible. The leaves are also a little bent/crooked and require realignment for the bowl to sit comfortably in position. The glass in good order with some minor scuffs and scratches to the surfaces commensurate with age and use. The gilding rubbed in areas, notably to some of the high points, such as the legs and other areas, with minor scuffs and scratches in areas. Marble base in good order.
