Glass Caviar Dish from the German Embassy in Prag (Prague), fine glass dish with slightly fluted stem and circular base. Glass bowl is acid etched to both sides with swastikas and “Deutsche Botschaft Prag”. Set comes with the small glass caviar bowl and Aplacca marked silvered holder. Set remains in very good overall condition. Stands 17cms tall. Prague was a very important city in the eyes of the Third Reich, they used the city as the gateway into eastern Europe and was vitally important in the planning of the invasion of the Soviet Union. Many official engagements took place at the Prague embassy during the pre-WW2 and early wartime years, including many functions held by SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Reinhard Heydrich who was deputy protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia until his assassination in 1942 by Czech agents serving with the British Special Operations Executive (S.O.E).
