Rare Egyptian Early Dynastic Period alabaster offering bowl with flat rim, cut to the underside; flat shoulder rounding to the body; Fine Condition. 80x200mm; 3.152x 7.88 in; 2010g; Ca.400 AD. A blue-green glass double balsamarium formed as a pair of conjoined tubes with slightly flared tops with thickened rims and scrolled handles, the base bulbous and flattened beneath, the body iridescent. 235x180mm; 9.259x 7.092 in; 108g; Provenance: From an old London collection, acquired on the UK art market in the 1980s.

Mid-18th century important political wine glass, the rounded funnel bowl above a plain stem and folded foot, the bowl with diamond point engraved "Our Liberty preserved by Taylor", 15cm high. Note: purchased Christies, February 1995 Lot 126, the engraving is possibly a reference to Joseph Taylor who served as MP for Ashburton from 1739-41, the engraving done in the style of the so-called "calligraphic master" as recorded in Charleston's article in the Burlington Magazine May 1994, which lists a further 13 glasses by the same engraver dating to the 1720s
