A large glass bowl with blue trailed decoration, Venice, circa 1560, height 16cm, diameter 32cmNote: there are a group of these vessels, two in the V&A, all seem to have been the same glass house and possibly the same workman. All have the same basic construct with wrythen decoration and blue trailed decoration and small exploded bubbles, (these were at the cutting edge of glass technology, the largest glass item that could be made at the time). These vessels were not for use but a 'statement' item and it is possible Queen Elizabeth I might have seen this bowl.
