An 18th century glass, the ogee bowl engraved with a bud, a flower and a bird in flight, upon a double series opaque twist stem on circular foot with unpolished pontil, 14.8cm high, together two Irish silver salt spoons by West & Sons, Dublin 1877, 9.5cm long, a silver open salt and associated silver spoon, and a further selection of 19th century and later glassware (Qty) CONDITION REPORT:The ogee bowl glass shows a small stain to one leaf of the floral motif, and a chip approximately 9mm wide to the foot. The jug shows a loss to one side of the spout 1cm wide, and an internal fracture to the top handle joint. The small footed bowl shows a flaked chip to the rim 8mm wide. The two glass salts show chips and nibbles to high points. The remaining glasses each show evidence of possible grinding to the foot. The silver pieces show tarnishing, wear and scratching commensurate with age and use.

Fifteen of Scotland's leading silversmiths were invited to design and create a piece of silver for the collection; including Malcolm Appleby, Grant McCaig, and Linda Robertson. Each piece bears the special commemorative Millennium hallmark that could only be applied between 1999 and 2000.Now curated by the Scottish Goldsmiths Trust, the collection also celebrates the best of Scottish craftsmanship at the turn of the new millennium. It is on permanent loan to Scotland's First Minister and resides in Bute House to promote the quality of craftsmanship in Scotland today.Hamilton & Inches went on to retail the candlesticks and centerpieces, and for this set, the gilding to the bowls of these candlesticks was a bespoke commission.
