Deighton (Len). Only When I Larf, privately printed, 1967, title inscribed by the author “To Eric and Romilly, with love and best wishes Len Deighton”, orig. printed comb-bound limp boards featuring an English note on the front and rear covers, upper board inscribed by the cover designer Ray Hawkey “To Brian with best wishes Ray (Hawkey)... with now no fear of Bank of England interference”, lower cover slightly marked, folio. Eric Hiscock was for many years the Book Correspondent of the Evening Standard Newspaper. Limited edition 40/150 privately printed by the author to establish copyright while negotiating the motion picture deal with Paramount Pictures. A wrought iron lark spit basting spoon 15½ ins (39 cms) in length. A large iron ladle 19½ ins (50 cms) in length. The dug out mortar 10 ins (26 cms) high, 7½ ins (19 cms) in diameter. The coopered containers measuring 10 ins (25 cms) high x 10 ins (25 cms) diameter, and 9 ins (23 cms) high x 7½ ins (19 cms) diameter.[9] *
A RARE SOUTH GERMAN INFANTRY HALF-ARMOUR, MID-16TH CENTURY, PROBABLY NUREMBERG, INCORPORATED INTO A LATER FULL ARMOUR comprising `almain` collar of three lames front and rear with integral spaudlers of six lames each, all embossed around the borders with a pattern of repeated scallops (some disarticulations), breastplate formed of a main plate with recessed ogee border beneath the neck and strong medial ridge projecting forward over the belly (so-called Tapulbrust), fitted with a pair of moveable gussets at the arm openings and flanged outwards at its base to receive a skirt of two-lames, contemporary three-piece backplate of similar type, a pair of pendent tassets each of seven lames, and decorated throughout with file-roped turns at the principal edges, together with later close helmet with two-piece skull joined along a roped medial comb, and `sparrow`s beak` visor, a pair of full leg-defences in gothic style including long pointed sabatons fitted with spurs, and a pair of etched fingered gauntlets: on a padded dummy with wooden stand A number of infantry armours of this quality are associated with the former city arsenal in Vienna.

1940`s silver mounted three piece dressing table set, comprising two brushes and a tortoise shell comb, each of the silver mounts with engine turned engraving and inscribed initials. Hallmarked W G Sothers Ltd Birmingham 1947. Condition: The three piece dressing table set are in good overall condition, there are scratches, marks and tarnishing and some general wear in keeping with the age and use. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
A 1930`s silver mounted three piece dressing table set of brushes with engine turned and banded decoration, matching comb mount and part box with gilt interior. Hallmarked Adie Brothers Ltd, Birmingham 1933. Condition: The pieces are in a fair condition, with some tarnishing in places, also general wear and tear scratches and some small dints. There are some nicks to the edges and one of the brushes has small section of little scratches to one end. The silver comb mount is slightly misshapen all the way along. And there is an item that seems to be part of a small possible pill box with a gilt interior, the interior is quite bright with small spots of tarnishing and slightly rubbed top edges.
