King's (1921-2006) collection, Hugh King being a hairdresser to several senior retired Army Officers including Field Marshal Montgomery. This Montgomery readily agreed to. King also retained some of this hair, that now being contained within the locket. In March 1976, when gravely ill in bed, Montgomery asked for one final haircut. King obliged, with Montgomery passing away just a few days later. The comb being the one King used for that last haircut. Both pieces are matted with a portrait of Montgomery and a printed version of the story behind them. The comb has lost a few of its fine teeth to the edge, otherwise VG
