A pair of Victorian Staffordshire cockerels, black glaze with gilding. Height 30 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The right hand cockerel has chips to the comb and the tip of the beak. There are chips to both of the cheeks below the beak. The gilding is rubbed. There is a 2 cm x 1 cm chip to the underside of the foot rim which is just visible from the back. The left hand cockerel has several chips to the comb and also the glaze is a little rubbed to the end of the beak. The gilding is generally rubbed.
A Victorian rosewood music box, bells in sight and drum, playing six airs. Cylinder length 27 cm, case 61 cm x 34 cm x 26 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The lid has surface scratches throughout and patches of veneer missing to left and right hand edges. The ebonised underside of the lid has small scratches and the ebonised finish is rubbed through and flaking. On the exterior of the body the right had side has a 12 cm split from to edge to handle. All feet have scuff marks. The front left foot has a small splice missing. The comb has the tips of five teeth missing.
A 19th century music box, the 7 cm comb signed M BORDIER, in a tortoiseshell case, 10 cm wide, and a leather outer box, 13 cm wide, box and case in parts/disassembled See illustration Condition report Report by GHThe tortoiseshell lid for the music box is broken off at its hinges. The tortoiseshell has also suffered some cracks and damage all the way round and chips to the foot-rim.We do not have a key to wind up the box but it does play briefly and all appears to be working as it should.The comb appears to be free of any damage.
