Y Three early 19th century coral hair ornaments, circa 1830, the first with two rows of pierced silver gilt floral sprays and garland bands with facetted coral bead accents and row of coral beads between, surmounted by a row of graduated faceted coral beads with gilt silver caps, with an unidentified continental mark, to a base metal comb, 17.6cm wide; the second with pierced silver gilt floral band, with coral bead surmounts, with French Poinçons, 15cm wide; and a gilt metal example, 16.8cm wideCondition Report: The first missing a coral bead, some light wear commensurate with age and use, the gilding is still in good condition, there appears to have been a couple of possible bends- there are two slight bends to the curve of the frame, but still in a good shape considering age. The mark is unidentified. The second is missing coral, the marks are a Boars head and a Hare return mark. The third has some solder to one tip, missing some small coral beads from the threaded row.Condition Report Disclaimer

An idealized female face is represented, the hair is decorated with geometric patterns and on the head she wears a comb headdress perhaps to suggest the portrait of a rich woman within the community.Provenance: Parisian collection of the painter Arturo Carmassi (Lucca, 1925- Empoli, 2015). This piece was inherited from the French humanist and collector Renée Druart (Grasse 1888-1961) whose daughter Carmassi had married.
