A mid 18th century brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss, by W Emms of Oxford, 30” overall, swamped 2 stage barrel 15”, with London proofs and engraved “W - Emms Oxford”; signed line engraved rounded lock having swan neck cock and unbridled frizzen; plain walnut fullstock with high comb to butt and carved apron around the barrel tang; brass mounts comprise engraved butt plate tang, trigger guard and flat trophy of arms sideplate, large escutcheon with floral finial, and baluster ramrod pipes; horn tipped wooden ramrod having iron worm. Good Working Order and Clean Condition (traces of old repair to the stock below the lock). Plate 40

A Mid 19th Century French Dragoon Officer's Brass Helmet, the comb embossed with volutes and surmounted by a black horsehair brush over the head of Medusa and a flaming grenade, the left side set with a red feather plume, the skull with a later faux leopard skin turban, with foliate ear rosettes, leather backed graduated brass chin scales and leather liner Dent to right side of skull. The printed pony/cow skin turban is a replacement, as is the feather plume.
