An 11-inch Polyphon Disc Musical Box, serial no. 98377, single section comb, titled reeded gilt cast bedplate, oak soundboards, in a period home-manufactured case; together with the original empty case with grained interior and sepia study of the then newly-built Eiffel Tower, in walnut case with Polyphon ivorine inlaid lid top, with 20 discs - original case width 13.1/2in. Condition: G/P II 2 Footnote: It is unclear why the movement sits within this current case and how the empty case has managed to survive its' journey with it 'on tow'. To compound the puzzle further, the current case appears to be of a similar age to the original.

An Interesting 'Bitza' Musical Box Playing Eight Airs, the movement with single-spring motor, single-section comb on reeded cast gilt bedplate, and stop linkage bar to lock the movement by Great Wheel, the comb has been altered and re-tuned in places to register with the cylinder and plays quite well; the tunesheet a later re-print and of different original maker with unknown Gamme; the case originally fitted with different movement with ebonised interior and dustlid, well-figured bird's eye maple lid interior, domed lid bearing inlaid bird on branch, kingwood crossbanding, with two sets of bedplate holes, the former covered with decorative blanking washers, the whole of matt finish awaiting polishing - 23 in. wide, the cylinder 11in. Condition: F-P III 4-5(t) Footnote: This musical box uses elements from up to four different musical boxes. In order for the comb to register with the cylinder, a great degree of engineering skill was used.
