From the Collection of Admiral Grindall, an Able Seaman aboard Captain Cook's Resolution during his second circumnavigation; thence by direct descent through his family.  A six-spindled comb of quills and fibre string. The spindles are approximately 22 cm long. The weaving is 2 cm wide. The movement is fitted vertically in a buffet style case, with twin doors and brass carrying handles, the figured walnut doors with inlaid mother of pearl decoration, 42.5 cm high x 65 cm wide x 25 cm deep.Private collection. Restoration receipts, insurance valuations and other related paperwork present.Condition report: In good working order, having been professionally restored (by Keith Harding Clocks & Musical Boxes, Glos). Some wear and losses to the case, but cosmetically good. No key for the cabinet doors present.
