A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH RECTANGULAR PAINTED AND LACQUERED METAL KEY WOUND MUSICAL BOX, printed with a scene of two figures beneath a stone arch, the sides with a continuous band of fruit and foliage, having 2.5" cylinder, the comb stamped H Lecoultre, and further stamped to the base 14104, 9cm wide
PRIMITIVE STYLE COMB AND STICK BACKED ELBOW CHAIR in mixed woods with moulded saddled seat and tapering turned legs. Together with a 19th Century ash and elm stick backed elbow chair with solid seat and baluster turned front stretchers. (2)(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Both appearing in sound condition. Very heavily restored and repaired, old one or a reproduction. The primitive style chair is a reproduction. There is evidence of work on 19thc chair, the other appears sound.

Having inherited over a million pounds from his Uncle in 1838, he was responsible for the rebuilding of Westonbirt House in Gloucestershire between 1863 and 1870 (now Westonbirt School for girls) and also Dorchester House in Park Lane, London between 1851-3 (to house his extensive collection of paintings and books - known as 'The Holford Collection').
