700-1100 AD, Viking Age. A bronze pendant comprising a stylised openwork dragon-shaped handle on the upper part and below it a comb with long, pointed teeth. Extensive dot-in-circle motifs cover much of the surface of the object. In Norse mythology, Jormungand (pronounced “YOUR-mun-gand;†Old Norse Jörmungandr, “Great Beastâ€), also called the “Midgard Serpent,†is a snake or dragon who lives in the ocean that surrounds Midgard, the visible world. He was so enormous that his body forms a circle around the entirety of Midgard. He is one of the three children of Loki and the giantess Angrboda, along with Hel and Fenrir.Both men and women wore long hair among the Vikings, and it is therefore possible that this beautiful piece belonged to a well-groomed Viking warrior. A 19th century flintlock smooth-bore musket with 46-inch barrel and inset with brass furniture, overall length 158cm (af), also a leather shot flask with spring-loaded shot measure spout (2). CONDITION REPORT The gun has been heavily lacquered, including the lockplate and barrel, leaving a yellow tarnish. The stock has a split running from the back of the lockplate down to the comb of the stock. The lower section of the brass butt plate is missing, although it appears to have been cut rather than snapped. Various nicks and losses throughout the fore end and several areas of light surface pitting to the barrel and lockplate. Further splits to the stock on the opposing side to the lock. Possibly missing the ramrod retaining bracket from the muzzle end of the gun.

dating: 1600 - 1620 provenance: Italy, Heavy skull, composed of two pieces, with a small roped comb, a rectangular hole in the center, smooth sides, number '70' in the right part, four ventilation holes near the cheek-piece on both sides. Chanfrin with slightly sharpened brim and with raised and roped border, riveted at the mask-shaped visor, with finely prominent nose, eye-slots and mouth with raised borders and oblique pitting, central part with ventilation holes so as the nose. Beaver composed of two hinged pieces, carved together with a neck-guard plate. Hook for the visor and beaver. Neck-guard and nape-guard plate slightly sloping, with raised and roped border, nape-guard plate hammered together with two skull hemispheres. A row of brass rivets. Small remains of original leather strings inside. Small restore on the nape-guard plate. Nape-guard of two plates with border en suite, both replaced by a skillful master, final plate reports his mark. Plume-holder decorated with oblique grooves, fixed with two rivets. Helmets of this fascinating type can be found in various museums and private collections. See a similar one in 'Europäische Helme' by Müller/Kunter no. 41. height 28,5 cm.

dating: circa 1600 provenance: North Italy, Elegant set, composed of morion, bust and complete brassards. Morion with skull in one piece, comb of medium height, with border with twisted engraving, two bands with fullers on sides, an iron plume-holder on the back, a row of rivets at the skull base, with brass rosettes, brim with hemmed edge, remains of enameled numbering inside. Breast-plate carved in Pisan style, with smooth bands alternated with other engraved with braided rinceaux and with medallions with various characters, the main one with knight in a battle, Master of the Castle emblem right under the neckline, traces of gilding. Back-plate decorated in Pisan style as well, with theme of various characters and two portrays in circular medallions that look at each other, loin-guard with remains of edge. Two-plated gorget with remains of engravings in Pisan style and roped neckline and with twisted engraving. Seven-plated pauldrons (one with four restored lower small plates), with decorative bands and medallions. Complete brassards, engraved en suite with pauldrons. Knuckle-shields without fingers, with beautifully engraved braided rinceaux and medallions on cuffs with elegant effigy of antique warrior and a lady. On a fine, wooden mannequin with embossed and painted head, provided also with old dress, in embroidered fabric (worn), decorated in style.Height as shown circa 112 cm. The breast-plate bears the well-known mark of the Master of the Castle of the Three Towers, a gunsmith whose name is not known, probably of Milanese origin, who towards the end of the 16th century marked a large production of armour. Most of his production was carried out for the Dukes of Savoy. Fit-in helmet with skull in two halves, joined at the comb (smooth and of medium height); visor ribbed in the center with cusped upper border, eye-slots with prominence, vertical ventilation holes, followed by circular holes and, lower, with transversal holes. Beaver and skull with release snap button, row of rivets. Lower border of the beaver and skull with flight groove. Gorget with three front and back plates, upper border with rope. Breast-plate ribbed in the center, with gleanings, upper neckline is smooth so as the pauldron small plates border, gussets festooned en suite with other plates. Back-plate provided with three-plated culet, festooned as well. Front loin-guard and tassets all festooned, with smooth ropes. Brassards complete with partially festooned plates, elbow piece and knuckle-shields top parts resume the decoration with festooned plates. Complete scaled fingers. Full-leg defense carved en suite, with articulated sabbatons. Brass rivets, ropes carved en suite, smooth and with longitudinal rib, edges with a recessed band. On a wooden exhibition mannequin complete with high pedestal. Armour height 139 cm. height total with base 172 cm.

dating: circa 1600 provenance: Augsburg, Composed of a cavalry helmet, bust complete with gorget, breast-plate and back-plate, complete brassards and knee-cops. Helmet with skull in one piece, with medium-height comb, with roped engraving on the border, raisable visor with a slot for a comb in the center, eye-slots with strongly relieved prominence, opening knob; ventail with double row of ventilation holes and remains of double lines, beaver with release button for ventail; a row of brass rivets at the skull's base, iron plume-holder on the back, neck-guard and nape-guard both of single plate with edge with a recessed band and file-roped border with downward turn, two-plated upper border with dotted festoons and double outline. Neck-collar with four front and back plates, the upper ones with a thick twisted rope, the others all with festooned upper edge, dotted and with double line. Fully enclosed arm defenses with articulated couters with large epaulettes with brass rivets, file-roped border and cusped upper edges; all the articulated plates of the brassards carved en suite with the gorget and helmet. Beautiful breast-plate, strongly ribbed in the center and with well evident tapul, engraved with a scene with an armed man, fully dressed and armed with a rapier is kneeling intent on praying devoutly the effigy of crucified Christ; both figures with traces of gilding, a cartouche above the knight with letters 'RUBR'; well visible Augsburg stamp under the thick file-roped neckline. Gussets with festooned borders en suite with other elements, pauldron small-plates with a thick roping en suite with neckline. Back-plate with two culet plates with festooned border. Front loin-guard with two plates provided with long knee-cops of thirteen elements, removable. Protection plates of the cuissard, all with upper border with dotted festoons and with double outlining. Articulated knuckle-shields with scaled fingers and back carved en suite with the other elements. Later leather strings but of old production anyway. Mounted on a wooden exhibition support.Height as shown circa 138 cm. This fine armour carved en suite is documented in 'Zeitschrift für historische Waffen', Dresden 1912-1914, as 'Ein Augsburger Trabharnisch'. height total with base circa 195 cm.

Raisable visor, strongly elongated, with slot for a brim, thin eye-slots, sharpened front part, ribbed in the center, provided with opening lever on the right side; ventail with double rows of rectangular ventilation holes, present on both sides. Beaver and base of the skull with release snap buttons. Nape-guard and neck-guard both of two plates, external edge file-roped and with roped border. Iron rivets. Gorget with four front and back plates, neckline with very thick and twisted rope, the two lower plates with undulated gleanings. Breast-plate ribbed in the center and with well relieved tapul, gleanings with recessed undulated lines above; thick neckline of the breast-plate and pauldron small plates (smooth) with rope faced outward. Front loin-guard of two plates carved en suite with tassets with upper borders with festooned decorations alternated with smooth segments; all the lower edge with recessed band and with rope, which on the last two plates of tassets, becomes thick and well relieved, twisted as well. Back-plate provided with smooth protrusion. Smooth shoulder and brassards plates, internal border with recessed band and roped. Similar decoration on the elbow piece. Cuffs ribbed in the center, articulated hands with complete scaled fingers. Full-leg defense, all with drawing ribbed in the center. Articulated cuissards, provided with two additional plates and ending in a lunette with twisted roping. Knee-cop wings roped as well. Articulated sabbatons and with roping at the cap. Restored leather strings. Iron rivets. Armour height circa 180 cm. On a wooden exhibition mannequin, complete with high pedestal and accompanied by an antique ring-mail segment in the front part. Massive combat armour with a beautiful helmet which, although not signed, is a typical work of Anton Peffenhauser. height total with base circa 210 cm.

Holzfigur eines Vogels. Papua-Neuguinea, Mittlerer Sepik, Anfang bis Mitte 20. Jh. H 85cm, B 36cm. Brettförmig aus Holz geschnitzte Silhouette eines (Wasser-?)Vogels, beidseitig ausgearbeitet, die Flügel in Form von sich deutlich abhebenden Ovalen, am Schwanz Ziermuster, die Augen in Form von Knubbeln, auf dem Kopf ein gezackter Kamm. Streifenbemalung aus gelber, roter, schwarzer und weißer Farbe. Die Holzfigur mittels geflochtener Wicklung aus Rattan (?) standartenartig auf ein Stück Bambusrohr montiert. Intakt. Wooden figurine of a bird. Board-shaped silhouette of a (water-?) bird carved out of wood, worked on both sides, wings in the form of clearly protruding ovals, decorative patterns at the tail, the eyes in form of knobs, on top of the head a jagged comb. Decorated with stripes of yellow, red, black and white paint. The wooden figurine is mounted onto a piece of bamboo cane with a braided winding made of rattan (?). Oberer Aufsatz in Form eines Rhombus und eines Dreiecks, die mit leichten Schnitzereien und Einfärbung dekoriert sind, mittlerer Teil mit geschnitztem und dunkelbraun eingefärbten Banddekor, im unteren Bereich die ca. 15cm langen Zinken. Rückseitig ebenfalls beschnitzt, in oberen Bereich die Zahl "8" und der Name "MIKIAN". Im oberen Bereich kleiner Ausbruch, ansonsten intakt. Comb made from a big piece of bamboo cane. Upper attachment in the form of a rhombus and a triangle, which are decorated with light carvings and dark coloring, the middle part with carved and dark brown colored decoration, in the lower area the approx. 6 inch long prongs. Beretta 12 bore silver pigeon shotgun serial number N94148B, with 28 inch barrels, fixed chokes 3/4 and 1/2, with gun slip.UK RFD OR SHOTGUN LICENCE REQUIRED TO BUY THIS LOT.Condition report: The gun has seen a fair bit of use but has been cared for. The bore is in good order with no pitting or damages to the barrels. The bluing is good all over. The stock has small knocks and signs of use but nothing defacing and would soon improve with light cleaning. The worst mark is a dent to the comb just before the butt plate.

No pitting to the bores. Barrels ring when tapped. Barrel to action fit is tight when closed with no wobble. Signs of wear from use such as wear to the bluing, mainly around the trigger guard. Scratches to and marks to the stock mainly around the comb of the stock, refinishing this area of wood would make this gun look a lot better but it is presentable as it is.
