Inevitably there is wear to the paint but the black paint appears to be the only layer of decoration. Pegged and wedged construction throughout, the legs are located in through-sockets in the seat and wedged. there is an old repair to a split at bottom of one front left leg, this has been bound in wire or twine and painted over - the split is secure. There is a metal cap to the underside of the right leg of this chair.
