A Minaudière, by Van Cleef & Arpels, for Asprey, the oblong case set with rose cut diamonds to the clasp, and initials `PF` set with diamonds, containing a lipstick holder, a lighter set with rose cut diamonds, and a case set with rose cut diamonds, with various other compartments contained, the comb and the compact both missing, contained in a black carrying case, measures 15.2cm by 11.8cm Styptor, an alloy of silver and pewter, was used in the late 1930`s and 1940`s.The inspiration for the Minaudière, one of Van Cleef and Arpels` notable contributions to the history of jewellery design, allegedly came from a meeting between Frances Gould and Charles Arpels. Gould, having left the house in a hurry, put her make-up etc into a metal Lucky Strike cigarette case - the Minaudière was born! (Minaudière - from the verb to simper) This is in reasonable condition. There are missing components as mentioned. The black carrying case is quite worn. It is stamped `LA MINAUDIERE DE VANCLEEF & ARPELS`, `SPECIALLY MADE FOR ASPREY`, and in several place it is stamped `STYPTOR` and `METAL`. It is numbered `42911`. The black carrying case has an internal label marked `ASPREY LONDON`. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; caratweight 3.00, colour I/J/K, clarity SI2/I1/I2. Gross weight 826.6 grams. An early 20th century silver gilt plique-a-jour enamel wings hair comb. Designed as a pair of red, blue and green plique-a-jour enamel out-stretched wings, with engraved cylindrical support for further ornament and hinged grip for comb. Comb and ornament deficient. French assay marks. Length 9cms. Total weight 13.5gms. The lot is in poor to fair overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. Support for comb, deficient, believed to be gilt metal. Central, cylindrical support, currently with blue tack and other detritus. Inner opening approximate diameter 4.3mms. The plique-a-jour enamel shows chips, cracks and small losses, most noticeable to the green sections near the tips. Comb fitting may require attention.

Myatt & Co., Birmingham 1905, the brush embossed with birds, masks and foliate scrolls, engraved `B` in a shaped reserve, 24cm long, in a fitted case; a shaped circular tea strainer by Joseph Gloster Ltd., Birmingham 1924, 10.5cm long; a late Victorian four division toast rack, maker`s mark obscured, Birmingham 1897, with wishbone supports and on four ball feet, 11.5cm long; and a napkin ring by Robert Pringle & Sons, London 1923, with a shaped border and engraved with an initial, 4.8cm diameter, 106g (3.4 oz) gross weighable. There is no condition report available on this lot.

A fine reverse Mirror Glass Painting, c.1760, painted with a girl dressing her hair, set with feng, ruyi and ball hairpins amongst peony, wearing a red robe with elaborately gilt collar and with a lingzhi pendant hung from a gold torque, a table behind her set with a Yixing teapot and tea bowls, and a vase with chrysanthemums and red chicken-comb flower, slight wear to frame, plate degraded as usual, 52 x 40cm overall, original gilt, black lacquer frame ??1760? ?????? , Mirror silvering pitted, some losses to the frame. Paint flaked on the hand-held mirror knop.
