Victorian Period Inlaid Rosewood Full Orchestral Cylinder Music Box with six bells, clappers, organ and drums. Circa 1880. The drum is struck by a set of eight beats, in staggered formation, the castanets are struck by six beats. The six bells are struck by butterflies and swallows. Measures 25" - 62.5 cm width, 12" - 30 cm high, 15.5" - 38.75 cm depth. The case has signs of wood worm to the base and in need of some attention. the comb has been repaired in two places.
A 19th century Swiss made cased cylinder music box, playing over eight aires, the rosewood veneered hinged cover decorated with a polychrome musical still life set within strung borders, opening to reveal the three-bell movement with a 43 tooth comb set within a further hinged glazed compartment (A/F), the case in a simulated rosewood finish, on short bracket feet, 21 cm high 46 x 26 cm.
