Regency tortoiseshell hair comb with engraved gilt metal mount, centrally set with a glass cameo depicting classical cherub with chariot, the reverse stamped with maker's mark 'Peirce', in original red leather box, 11cm x 7.5cm CONDITION REPORT Very good original condition. A cast tubular socket with four moulded ribs projecting to the rear to form conical spikes; thin blade with reinforced edges, swept profile. 281 grams, 22cm (8 3/4"). Property of a North London collector; acquired in the 1970s. Cf. Moorey, P.R.S. et al Ancient Bronzes, Ceramics and Seals, Los Angeles, 1981, items 34, 36. Extremely fine condition.

A Swiss twelve air musical box, the 33 centimetre pinned cylinder with single section comb with zither on a nickel plated bedplate, double spring motor and barrel numbered 1841, air number indicator (hand lacking), ebonised interior under glazed dustlid, tunesheet on ebonised ground, the walnut veneered box with inlaid marquetry flowers to the lid and transfer to the front, 24.75in (63cm) wide.

A Solomon Islands comb, wood/reed, triangular shell inlay and resin, with fibre attachment to reverse, handle broken, 27cm long, a disc shape shell currency with red beads, a Maori greenstone adze head, 13.5cm long, a decorated piece of bamboo, 12.2cm long and a spear tip shape nut shell, 10cm long. (5) Provenance: James Blyth (1834 - 1924) and thence by descent.

Brux” (unclear) on right side, black leather (crazed) covered brass bound back and front peaks, and headband, ornametal brass comb with Medusa head finial and steel cuirass “badge”, black hair shaving brush plume in brass socket, slender falling plume to back, red feather plume on left, leather (worn) liner, leather backed brass wire woven chinchain with ear roundels, marked 138 and V1834 on the back. French 1825 Pattern Cuirassiers Helmet of steel shell with brass flaming grenade front plate section. Brass comb with black brush plume and long horse hair plume. Front fitted with brass plume holder and small red brush plume. To the side of the helmet is brass plume holder with red feather plume. Brass linked chin chains that are leather backed. Shell has various issue stampings to the reverse. Interior of the helmet has the original leather liner. Overall a very good example.
