A Three-Piece George V Silver and Niello Dressing-Table Service, by Henry George Murphy, London, 1931, With Falcon Studios Mark in the Art Deco style, each piece with niello flowers and foliage, with niello initials 'RA McQ', comprising a hand-mirror; a hair-brush, each with carved ivory finial and a comb-back, teeth lackingthe hand-mirror 25.5cm long (3)Niello is a traditional technique which Murphy himself describes as '... dating back to the 1st century A.D.' (P. Atterbury and J. Benjamin, Arts and Crafts to Art Deco The Jewellery and Silver of H. G. Murphy, Woodbridge, 2005, p. 168), in the working notes for a lecture he presented at Goldsmiths' Hall in 1935. He describes the process in some detail and his receipe in particular as using '3 parts silver, 2 parts copper and 1 part lead. The copper and silver and melted together in a crucible and when properly mixed the lead is added'. Other examples of dressing-table services by Murphy which are decorated with niello are known, for example a six-piece service with very similarly carved ivory finials (op. cit., p. 116). With non-transferable standard ivory exemption declaration number 4L7PDRYK.Each piece fully marked and further struck with Falcon studios mark. The marks are generaly clear. There is some scratching and wear to the marks overall. The bristles on the brush are very worn. The comb is lacking the teeth. The mirror with some minor flaws to the mirror plate. The ivory shows no indication of additions or restoration.

A Late 18th/Early 19th Century Ash Comb-Back Armchair, probably West Country, the double spindle back support above outswept arms with turned spindle uprights above a moulded seat stamped WI, on four legs of pegged construction64cm by 40cm by 98cmThe underside of the seat has some wormholes. The back support is split and has been repaired, with later screw added (as photographed). Numerous cut marks around the arms. The top rail is split and has some movement (as photographed). Slightly wobbly. The turned posts to the arms at the front differ - one is possibly a replacement. The front of the seat has maker/stamp also. The seat height from the floor to the underside is 32cm. Total seat height is 36cm.

Belgian 16 bore side by side pinfire shotgun, serial number 2081 30inch Damascus barrels, deep scroll and leaf engraved rotary underlever forend, scroll trigger guard with horn extension, figured chequered stock carved with a cheek piece. Section 58 (2) Antique / obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence. Buyer must be over the age of 18, age verification will be required if the lot is to be posted out. 117cm long The gun is in reasonable condition for its age but could do with some polishing / cleaning up to look its best. The exterior of the barrels has some light pitting and surface corrosion, there are some light dents to the right-hand tube. The bores have pitting throughout which would improve with lapping but never fully disappear as it looks quite deep. The actions cock and release with strong springs, the lock up between barrels and action is tight. The stock has two cracks which run from beside the top of each lock up to the top tang, they look to be unrelated and stable. There are some dents and marks to the wood stock and a stain line running from the top tang down the comb of the stock. The toe of the stock has a spliced in repair. The butt plate has some pitting.
