8th-9th century AD. A bone double-sided comb of lentoid section with broad teeth on one side and fine teeth on the other; the central section on both faces decorated with punched ring-and-dot decoration. 18 grams, 75mm (3"). From a home counties collection; formed 1970-1980. Fine condition.
8th-10th century AD. A rectangular flat-section bronze comb with pierced lugs to the upper edge, cruciform voids with low-relief nimbate figures to the obverse, ring-and-dot motifs to the reverse, short teeth to one long edge, suspension loop. 79 grams, 93mm (3 3/4"). Property of a Middlesex gentleman; acquired in the 1980s.[No Reserve] Fair condition, damaged.
9th-11th century AD. A bronze miniature comb with fine-cut teeth to one long edge and coarse-cut to the other; bands of zig zag detailing to each face. Cf. Thunmark-Nylén, L. 11th-15th century AD. A sewing set comprising of: four large wooden needles, a wooden comb for fabric, two small needles, five sewing implements, a cut bone implement, a rectangular basket, a piece of fabric with tassels. 203 grams total, 5.5-35cm (2 1/4 - 13 3/4"). Property of an Essex lady; from her grandfathers collection; acquired in Europe before 1940; previously in a 19th century collection; thence by descent.[15] Fine condition.

A substantial bronze chain of double links on a ring supporting a labrys pendant with comb-teeth to the lateral edges, tremolier bands and ring-and-dot ornament. 148 grams, 80cm (31 1/2"). Property of an Essex gentleman; formerly in a European private collection. Fine condition.
Late 19th/early 20th Century items to include silky burgandy parasol with wooden handle and green tassels, a collapsible black top hat or opera hat by Hillhouse & Co, 11 New Bond St, London, a black silk boned Victorian short sleeve bodice with beaded and sequin floral decoration and black lace and velvet trim and beaded lace sleeves by Bonar 12 Westmorland St, Edinburgh. Together with a collection of vintage fans to include: a black lace fan, a black wood and paper florally painted fan, a paper fan with flower and Genie decoration marked 'Parfum Pompeia' and 'GDelaittre' and a painted fabric fan (damaged). Vintage glove stretchers, a black satin skull cap and a fine Japanese comb. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Parasol - pinprick hole and small stains to fabric but otherwise good for age. Bodice - excellent condition for age, very slight damage to silk around one of the fastenings. Measurements: waist 33cm/13", shoulders 37cm/14.5" length 36cm/14" approximately when laid flat Opera hat - generally in good condition, lining damaged and stained over label glove stretchers - good condition, marked ebony lace fan and skull cap good condition with no obvious damage paper fan slightly worn at edge. both painted fans damaged at end.
Fine quality late 19th century Japanese Tokyo School carved ivory okimono of a farmer threshing the rice crop - the underside also finely carved and signed on red lacquer plaque, 12cm high, the base 11.5cm wide CONDITION REPORT Good general condition apart from break on base in two places which has been glued back in place, some hairline cracks to face and body of man, 2 small chips to comb, one small end piece of thresher broken. A wonderful piece of carving
Scarce Pre 1886 Bavarian NCO Raupenhelm black patent leather skull. Front peak trimmed with brass edging. Plain rear brim. Two rear crown spines. Top fur comb, possibly replaced. Side brass spines leading down to the lion mask chinstrap mounts supporting a black leather chinstrap with brass mounts. Brass Bavarian badge with later replaced crown. Leather sweatband. Rear brim stamped '2.C.H.L.G.'. Some restoration has been carried out on the helmet.
