A 19th century Swiss rosewood and marquetry rectangular music box, 32.5cm cylinder playing 8 airs on a one-piece comb, cranking handle, Start/Stop and Change/Repeat selectors, the rectangular cover unusually centred by a pair of zebras, within outlined boxwood bands, 56cm wide, c.1870 Condition Report: Please see attached images. Trying to play but has been wound too tight. The comb good. Appears to be lacking a couple of teeth only.
A 19th century walnut coin operated penny-in-the-slot floor standing polyphon, the vertical mechanism playing 50cm discs, lofty cresting above an arched glazed door flanked by turned pillars, the base with a pair of rectangular panel cupboard doors, bun feet, 197cm high, retailed by Joseph Riley & Sons, Birmingham, complete with ten discs, c. 1890 Condition Report: Hi this lot is in good condition and in good working order including the penny slot, it is a double comb and from the sounds of I think there's could be a few teeth missing. A large 19th century Swiss walnut music box, 44cm cylinder playing 8 airs on a three-piece comb, cranking handle, Change/Repeat and Stop/Play selectors, outlined throughout with rosewood banding and boxwood stringing, 78cm wide, c.1860 Condition Report: Yes it is in good working order, there is no missing teeth or tooth tips, lot in good condition. An officer’s 1843-47 pattern gilt helmet of the 1st (King’s) Dragoon Guards, plain skull with edge binding to front and back peaks, ornamental comb the side panels embossed with foliage, black hair falling plume with “shaving brush” plume in front, rayed helmet plate bearing Royal Arms with supporters and motto, and large scroll “Waterloo” below, ear to ear band embossed with title “1st or the King’s Dragoon Guards”, large ear rosettes and graduated scallop linked chinscales, leather lining. A good scarce .75” Prussian 1740/73 Pattern Potsdam flintlock musket, 57” overall, barrel 41” with proof marks at the breech and brass blade fore sight; stepped lock with bevelled edges, facetted pan, and unbridled frizzen, plate engraved “Potzdammegazin” and “DSE” on the lower bevel; stained beech wood fullstock with carved apron around the mounts and high comb to the butt; heavy bevelled and facetted brass mounts, and oval escutcheon engraved with the crowned cypher of Friedrich II; with sling swivels, original stout steel ramrod, and scarce original triangular socket bayonet. Good Working Order and Condition, (small sliver of wood missing from the stock above the lock). Plate 35
The steel skull is forged in two halves, joined at the edge of the high comb. On both sides there is an embossed Fleur de Lys, left blank like the high comb, showing remains of faded enamel to both sides. For the attachment of the lining there are iron rivets surrounded by brass ornaments, still showing a leather tab for chinstrap. No liner, generally heavily toned to interior. Scarce.
