A Swiss key-wound musical box by Nicole Freres with 27cm pinned cylinder and one piece comb stamped E NICOLE, the brass bedplate also stamped Nicole Freres à Geneve and 21919, in figured and line inlaid walnut case, the original printed label to the underside of the lid listing 6 Airs inscribed Gamme No 632 and numbered as the movement, 44 x 17cm In fine original condition with a few old black scratches and marks to the lid which do not detract, a good example of the type (Please see lot 1075 for image)
A Turkish silver-mounted miquelet-lock gun, second quarter of the 19th Century with octagonal etched twist barrel stamped with a gold-lined barrelsmith's mark, encrusted with gold scrollwork behind the muzzle and ahead of the breech, and retained by five engraved silver bands (the forward two replaced), iron lock encrusted with small gold and silver patterns, brass bud-shaped trigger, figured hardwood full stock, two-stage faceted butt, the stock profusely inlaid with silver plaques finely pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage, overlaid with an engraved silver plaque over the barrel tang, the comb of the butt applied with a further plaque (extensively chipped), and retaining an early sling belt (fore-end cap missing, ramrod replaced) 93.3cm; 36.75in barrel
An North Italian etched comb morion, circa 1580, possibly Brescian with one-piece skull rising to a tall roped comb, pierced with a pair of holes for a plume-holder, encircled around the base with brass-caped lining rivets on brass rosette washers (two missing from each side), down-turned brim rising to a point front and rear, turned roped edge (the skull with several small holes and an internally patched repair), etched throughout in the so-called Pisan manner, comprising an elaborate strapwork panel involving elements of armour on each side of the comb, the skull decorated with a trellis design filled with further elements of armour, and the brim bordered with acanthus at the base of the skull (etching refreshed) 29.2 cm ; 11.5in high A Brescian morion with similar etched ornament on the comb and brim is preserved in the Doge's Palace, Venice.

A rare highland flintlock belt pistol formed entirely of steel by Innes & Wallace, Edinburgh, circa 1800 with sighted barrel formed with swamped faceted muzzle, inlaid with three punched engraved brass bands enclosing a signed brass oval, gold vent, signed blued lock, gold-lined pan (cock replaced), finely engraved half-stock and lobe-butt decorated with beaded lines and bands of leaf ornament in the English style, inlaid with a punched silver line around the pommel, the Prince of Wales's feathers and the Royal motto 'Ich Dien' in silver on the comb, the escutcheon engraved with the initials 'R.C.' or 'R.G' above 'Fencibles', the pommel engraved with radiating leaf ornament enclosing a silver rondel chased with an expanded flower-head, engraved trigger-guard, plain belt hook, original ramrod, and retaining traces of original blued finish throughout 29.8 cm ; 11.75in Innes & Wallace worked in Edinburgh circa 1795-1802. The pair to this pistol was sold Sotheby's New York, 1st June 1991, lot 403.

A NICOLE FRERES MUSICAL BOX the case having inlay to the rosewood lid in various woods, depicting a Classical head surrounded by decoration, with satinwood crossbanding and boxwood, the 9¼ inch ‘fat’ cylinder allows for two tunes per revolution and therefore allowing better quality in the playing, having a winding lever to one side and three levers to the other for ‘stop/start’ and ‘change/repeat’ and ‘stop’ and stamped ‘Nicole Freres a Geneve’ on the brass bed along with the serial number ‘41439’, the tune sheet lists the ten airs along with the gamme number ‘2021’ (this being the maker’s index number for tuning the comb) and the wording Fabrique de Nicole Freres, 41439’ a further label gives the retailer as ‘Imhof & Mukle, 110, New Oxford Street, London’ whilst another label gives them as importers at 547, Oxford Street, height 15cm, width 46cm
