Nice, all original Swiss coin operated cylinder music box made by Mermod Freres, one of the best known for quality music boxes. In perfect working order. Accepts a penny for one play. External winding crank. No chipped or broken teeth on comb. 10 tunes change automatically. Original tune card. All tunes made for the American market. Has original key for lock. Overture the Rolls-Royce of music boxes were manufactured by Nicole Frères, Geneva and have by far the best arranged and reproduced music. This music box comes with only one cylinder with four melodies but has a very narrow comb, giving it a much larger arrangement scale and with the large cylinder diameter, a much longer play time. This is a very fine example, with beautiful marquetry on the case and a nice selection of Mozart, Handel and Haydn melodies. Approx. 1870.
