UNITED KINGDOM. Victoria, 1837-1901. Gold half-sovereign, 1887. London. Imperfect J DISH L508. The issues the mint encountered with the Jubilee coins are well documented and were exacerbated by the pressure for the coins to be ready for the Queen's Golden Jubilee on 20 June 1887. Records show that 1,771,425 half-sovereigns were struck in 1887, but only 871,770, less than 50% of the total, were fit for circulation. To improve metal flow silver was included in the alloy, which makes all 1887 London Jubilee head half-sovereigns stand out for their lighter colour. Although this variety is the most common of the 1887 Jubilee head half sovereigns, it is highly sought after due to the fascinating story surrounding the series, recently told by David Iverson and Steve Hill In their publication 'The Jubilee Head Gold Half Sovereign 1887-1893' (Sovereign Rarities, 2019).Crowned and veiled Jubilee bust facing left; JEB on truncation, imperfect J; inscription: VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRIT: REGINA F: D:. / High, crowned and embellished shield-of-arms; date in exergue; BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:.In secure plastic holder, graded PCGS MS63 , certification number 47928973. 2014 Bentley Mulsanne V8 MDS Transmission: automaticMileage:27543The Bentley Mulsanne is named after the Mulsanne Straight of the Le Mans racing circuit, Bentley cars having won six victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the past. Bentley brought back the Mulsanne nameplate that was last used in 1992; this model replaces the hugely successful Arnage and was unveiled at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2009. In keeping with the Arnage, the Mulsanne retained the 6750cc, V8 power unit, the engine was lighter and featured cylinder de-activation and variable cam phasing to improve fuel efficiency. It was the first flagship car to be independently designed by Bentley Motors in nearly 80 years; the last being W.O. Bentley's 8 litre model in 1930.This superb low mileage example of the fabulous model is presented in dark grey metallic with light cream/white leather interior. This car is fully loaded with all the extras the factory could offer which includes TV screens to the headrests, privacy windows, diamond stitching to the leather upholstery, glass sunroof, Sat nav, air conditioning etc. The condition of this Bentley is exemplary and the ride quality is sublime, matched with its powerful 6.7 litre engine, makes for a wonderful touring saloon. The car comes with full Bentley history and the vendor is retaining his private registration and a new V5 has been applied for which should arrive by the time of the auction but its new registration has been allocated as stated. Consigned by James Good.
