A Chinese antique carved hardwood altar table, late 19th / early 20th century, the cleated top over a pierced and carved fruiting vine frieze and Green key corner brackets, raised on shaped square legs with dragon carved feet, 54 x 15¾in. (137 x 40cm.), 34½in. (87.5cm.) high. * Condition: No damage to carved frieze. Dusty & dirty - will need cleaning and polishing. Old shrinkage crack to top of one leg. Some separation & looseness to joints around the lower legs/stretchers. Scratch to one corner of frieze at top of leg. Good overall, with a good colour and patina. Colour to top lighter than the remainder due to polishing over many years.
A Chinese carved spinach jade figure of a falcon, probably 19th century, archaistic in form, in upright stance upon an indented circular 'rocky' base with lighter green inclusions, 4½in. (11.4cm.) high. * Condition: Tiny chip to edge of base (very old, possibly from the making). No other damage. In good condition overall.
Malcolm Arbuthnot (British, 1877-1967), 'Venice 35' , watercolour on linen, signed lower right, titled to mount verso, unframed , 5¾ x 8¾in. (14.5 x 22.25cm.). * Condition: Some light foxing across image, most noticably to lighter, upper half, and a few slightly larger fox marks in places. Also foxing to mount.

Garden Statues: A rare Portland stone bulldogcirca 190045cm.; 17½ins high by 56cm.; 22ins longThe oldest single breed specialty club is The Bulldog Club (England), which was formed in 1878. Members of this club met frequently at the Blue Post pub on Oxford Street in London. There they wrote the first standard of perfection for the breed. In 1894 the two top Bulldogs, King Orry and Dockleaf, competed in a contest to see which dog could walk 20 miles (32 km). King Orry was reminiscent of the original Bulldogs, lighter boned and very athletic. Dockleaf was smaller and heavier set, more like modern Bulldogs. King Orry was declared the winner that year, finishing the 20-mile (32 km) walk while Dockleaf collapsed. The Bulldog was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1886. At the turn of the 20th century, Ch. Rodney Stone became the first Bulldog to command a price of $5,000 when he was bought by controversial Irish American political figure Richard Croker.
